Dartmouth College Library Workers Union
Part of AFSCME Council 93
One Library. One Union.
We did it!
On June 12, 2023, Dartmouth Library workers overwhelmingly voted to unionize. Approximately 80% of eligible voters cast a ballot, and 85% voted in favor! The new union will include both exempt and non-exempt library workers. Many thanks to all who participated in the election (whichever way you voted) and to those who supported our organizing efforts.
DCLWU is a worker-run union and we need your voice and participation. Please get in touch with any questions, comments, or to get more involved.
What you can do if you're a Dartmouth Library employee:
Talk to us. We want to hear any questions or comments you have about the union, whether you voted for it or not! Email the organizing committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteer. Organizing and maintaining a union takes a lot of work! If you're interested in lending your time and skills, we definitely want to hear from you.
Learn. There's a lot of ignorance about unions (largely because that ignorance benefits those opposed to worker rights), so educating yourself is an important way to improve your own understanding and decide what you think. Our FAQ page answers questions about the DCLWU, and our Resources list gives you a place to start when learning about organizing in general.
